I attended a class last week and was so impressed by the content and the reference book we now have with all our individual overlockers settings for the different fabric that we tackled. I loved using the different thread too that gives us more finishing options. I came away looking forward to my future sewing adventures and able to thread my overlocker properly. Kate is a marvellous teacher and gave everyone individual attention throughout and all our questions were answered. I am very inspired to attend further classes in the future. When I bought my first overlocker I thought I would be finishing seams and hems. For a while that is all my machine was used for. Kate, although she didn’t know it at the time, was my overlocking ‘buddy’. Her DVD talked me through many of the basic functions.
My first ‘live’ class with Kate was at a Stitches and Craft show, making a zippered fancy purse – all on the overlocker. I came home with a fancier model and the encouragement to explore further.
Fast forward a few years, and another upgrade, to the Ovation. Imagine my excitement when I heard that Kate would be teaching at our local sewing shop. I have now completed the two day Learning to Love Your Overlocker course, and the one day Coverstitch class. I have learned so much during these three very hands on days. So many tips to achieving a more professional finish. Kate has written some very informative sets of notes, now complete with samples to remind me of the best settings to use. These classes are not just ‘normal’ overlocking. Kate has you thinking outside the square and using your overlocker to create very original items. She also helps you to master the multitude of feet and attachments you seem to collect along the sewing journey, as well as coveting a few more!!
I would encourage any sewist to attend Kate’s classes. She is a patient and encouraging teacher with an amazing knowledge of overlockers.

ASG Wollongong Group were excited to have Kate teach her basic “Know Your Overlocker” class. The feedback was such that we want Kate back as soon as can be arranged. Best comment was .. “I have used my Overlocker more since Kate’s class than in the 8 years I have owned it”. And that was about 6 weeks after. Another comment was “I’m not frightened now to twiddle the dials or thread again”. What a wonderful success it was from a group who thought they knew it all! We count the days until Kate can return.

Did a class with Kate and have never been more confident with my overlocker/coverstitch machine. Changing needles feet and functions is as easy as with my sewing machine now and use my overlocker more than ever. Kates lessons are friendly informative and great value. Cant waitfor the opportunity to do another one.
